And of course I will go through how you can monetize a website, and what is the best way to monetize a website.
List of the best ways to monetize a website
Let’s go through a quick list of 5 methods you can use to monetize your website.
1. Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing isn’t just for the big hitters. Platforms like Amazon Associates are accessible for smaller websites too. Choose products that resonate with your audience and offer high conversion potential. Even though affiliate marketing is probably one of my favorite ways to make money online, there are a few “risks” here.
So if you decide to join Amazon Associates, like right now, you have 180 days on you to make 3 sales. Well that isn’t much, but for you with a smaller website, that isn’t driving traffic won’t generate sales at all, and this applies for every method by the way. So focus on building up traffic, a little pro tip, don’t rush things, it won’t end well, trust me!
2. Google AdSense/Ads
I would say that Google AdSense is the easiest way to monetize your website. I remember that I made my first money online with AdSense. And my site wasn’t large at all.
All you need to do is to apply to them. And make sure that you have high-quality content on your website, and you will with most certainty get accepted. But do keep in mind that AdSense don’t pay that much. I like AdSense, don’t get me wrong, but I am warning you.
If you are promoting products, then these ads will take away a maybe $50 opportunity for $0.50. Does that sound worth it? Maybe not, now this depends, if you are promoting something else as well, like a product. Then make sure that there are no ads on the posts or articles where you have affiliate links, and stuff like that. So that you make sales instead.
3. Sell Your Own Products/Services
Many people make their own product, and promotes it through their website. And I would say this is an effective way of making money. It is kinda like affiliate marketing, but not really. Because here you make 100% of every sale you make. Which means that you have to pay a bit more money too.
It is very important that you create a product that is relevant, helpful, or at least something your audience wants. Like, let’s say it is within our niche on this website. We are in the money making niche, so maybe creating an online course, or an e-book on how to make money, and then promote it here.
That is a good example on how you can do it. And for this you would need an online store, so Shopify is a great option here. Then just create a good-looking store, promote it, and sales are waiting around the corner!
4. Make People Pay/Subscribe For Your Content
Making people pay for getting access to exclusive things, is an effective way of monetizing your site, but not for everyone. This is mostly for you that have loyal readers.
And you require a lot of traffic for this one, so you that have a new or a small website, this might not be for you yet. But it still is a good way of monetizing your website. But you would want an authoritative site, and have loyal readers.
You could set up like a little tier list, like premium, and premium plus, giving people more or less access to your content or special things depending on which membership they use.
5. Sponsored Content
If you ever watched a YouTube video (I guess you have) then you might have stumbled across sponsors who had sponsored a video. Which means that they have paid the YouTube creator to mention them inside of their video.
This is kinda the same thing, but this is for a website, and you are probably not posting that many videos, maybe some, but not much.
So this can be in different forms, like paid reviews, sales announcements, product launches, event coverage, or offers. And you can actually decide what type of sponsors you want your website, you are the boss. Who is going to stop you?
A smart way of earning some extra money out of this, is to set prices for extra favors. Like should you (your website), or should the sponsor create the post/article? If you have to do it, you can charge extra for it. Smart, isn’t it?
So that was our quick list, as you know monetizing a website is a strategic way to make money online. But now I just want to mention a few things before we move on to a few tips on how you can maximize your earnings with a small website.
First things first, you can use multiple methods at one website. It depends on what your niche is, what fits in with your content, audience, and overall site (what your site stands for and stuff like that).
Now let’s move on to how you can maximize your earnings with a small website.
Maximizing Earnings from a Small Website With Minimal Traffic
Let’s just be honest here, if you have a smaller website, you probably won’t make as much as a large website. But that doesn’t mean it is impossible. So I want to share a few tips on how you can monetize your smaller blog.

But do keep in mind, that traffic plays a big role here. How are you going to sell anything if there isn’t anyone seeing your products or recommendations or ads, etc. But these tips will help you out!
First up, it’s crucial to optimize your site for a specific niche. This means creating content that your targeted audience wants, and increasing the chances of buying your affiliate products – like those offered through Amazon Associates.
Choose something that resonates with your audience and watch how a focused niche can lead to higher conversion rates.
In addition to affiliate marketing, consider carving out space for exclusive content or products. These can be anything from e-books to online courses that offer value your visitors can’t find anywhere else. Sync this with a well-crafted email marketing strategy to keep your dedicated users coming back for more.
Don’t overlook the power of social media. It’s a fantastic way to drive targeted traffic back to your site, especially when you share content that hits home for your followers.
We actually have social media (GettingRichToday.com). We use Facebook, Twitter/X, Pinterest, and other platforms to expand our reach. And this helps a lot! Maybe some of you reading this might have come here from our social media. Isn’t that kinda cool, and evidence that this acutally work? I think so at least!
And while you’re tweeting and posting, you are also increasing your site authority. Believe it or not, but this is considered a backlink (if you link to your website through these networks). And this helps you rank in search engines, which leads to increased traffic.
Lastly, the key to success with a small site is patience and persistence. Your first attempt doesn’t need to be your last.
Analyze what’s working, adjust your strategy, and keep offering irresistible value that keeps your users engaged and entices them to click on those affiliate links or purchase your premium content.
Friendly reminder here, even the biggest sites started with a single user. Your journey to monetization is just beginning!

I want you to leave this article feeling confident that you can find your own little way through the policies of these monetization platforms. Why? Well there are things like taxes with this, so I want to help you out a little bit with this.

Understanding website monetization policies is more than a necessity; it’s a strategy to protect your content and profits in the long run. You’ll find that familiarizing yourself with the intricacies will pay dividends, preventing any potential disruptions in revenue streams.
I got an good example for you, 5th of March 2024 Google rolled out their core update, or spam content update. And what they did is that they clear all of the low quality content, and deindexed (basically made a website unable to rank in Google) websites that had low quality content, and spammy content. Even if they generated 10 million visitors in traffic every week.
Google isn’t really a platform for monetizations, but the point I am trying to make is that, when you are following the rules and plicys you will win in the long run. So you should read their policies, even if it boring. That is just the way to go.
Meeting website monetization requirements might seem hard, or maybe even nerve wracking, but think of it as laying down the foundation for sustainable earnings. Whether it’s traffic quality, content standards, or technical specifications, meeting these benchmarks serves as your badge of credibility in the digital marketplace.
Moving on into the meaning of website monetization, remember that it’s not just about turning a profit. It’s about creating value for every visitor, building a community around your content, and developing a robust digital environment that’s both lucrative and engaging.
Don’t hesitate to use tools like a website monetization checker. This can be instrumental in assessing your site’s potential and identifying any underutilized opportunities for generating income.
My final piece of advice? Stay adaptable. Monetization methods and best practices evolve with technology and audience behavior. Keep an eye on emerging trends and be ready to pivot your strategy when necessary to continue growing your website’s revenue effectively.
